Presidents Day! John Carroll is Elected

Sassafras River Business Council Elects John for President
They say if you want to get something done ask the busiest person, and it will get done. With as many projects as John has going, he’s the one to get things done. So, as the newly elected president of the business council, it is without a doubt that he will bring more attention to the local business community.
He is looking to increase active participation in the organization, inviting interested citizens to join, and to broaden the circulation of the monthly newsletter to keep people informed of what’s going on with local businesses.
John’s been busy for the past year, changing the face of Main Street in Galena. He had purchased the building where the Galena Antiques Center had operated for twenty five years, and has been renovating it ever since. It’s the big red building that will catch your eye right in the center of town. John has created a vibrant atmosphere in the store, and has more than twenty dealers displaying merchandise. It’s well worth checking out occasionally, because there’s always something new coming in.
Also new is the location of Village Real Estate Company! The office is in the front of the building adjacent to the store. It’s definitely a good change, and John sees it as a good cross marketing tool, as customers can visit both businesses. In addition, Linda is serving as secretary for the business council. More…
2010 Galena Dogwood Festival!

Saturday May 8th is the date for the annual Dogwood Festival in Galena. It's always a big hit and gets bigger and better each year. This year's event will honor our active millitary and veterans.
The Grand Parade will kickoff at 10:00 a.m. and will be coming up Main Street, so get here early and grab a spot!
The main festival activities will be at the Dogwood Plaza in the center of town. There will be crafters, food, live entertainment,small carnival rides for the kids, and more!
